Travel

Singapore is one of the best connected cities in the world. Nationals from many countries do not require a visa to enter Singapore, which is easily accessible by air through Changi International Airport. In addition, due to its strategic location in the heart of South-East Asia, Singapore is the ideal gateway to explore the exotic cultures of neighbouring countries like Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines and Cambodia.

For connections within Singapore, see the Venue page.

The local currency is the Singapore dollar (SGD or S$) and cents. You will be expected to use Singapore dollars for cash purchases. Taxis charge a 10% administration fee for payment by credit card.

Tipping is not common in Singapore. In restaurants and bars however, a 10% service charge & 7% GST is automatically added to the bill. Taxi drivers don't expect tips as well.

The electric current in Singapore is 220-240V and the frequency is 50 Hz. The power plugs used in Singapore are of the three-pin, square-shaped variety (as used in the UK), so an adaptor may be required.

Smoking is forbidden in most public areas, governmental buildings & shopping malls. The conference site is a non-smoking ground.
